If you are going to fly with Emirates Airlines in the future, then you can pay for the flight tickets with Bitcoin. The United Emirates-owned airline declared that it is now ready to enter the cryptocurrency market.
The news was confirmed by the Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, Adel Ahmed Al-Redha in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. He also forecasts to enlist Metaverse and Non-Fungible Token.
Emirates will be the second airline after Lot Polish to accept Bitcoin directly as a payment method for the flight tickets. Lot Polish decided to take digital currency in the year 2015. During that time, the crypto market value was only $7.25 billion, whereas today after eight years its worth has grown to as much as $1.25 trillion.
Emirates Airlines is the fourth-largest airline in the world. The aviation industry has been left far behind in accepting cryptocurrency. The acceptance of cryptocurrency by the Emirates can also work as a flip in the statues-quo for receiving only fiat money as payment for the flight tickets. And it will further open the door for the aviation industry to welcome crypto assets.
As per the reports, the decision to accept Bitcoin by Emirates Airlines came as the UAE’s digital economy goal.
