Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told in a forum that the country is going to make cryptocurrency as a legal means of payment sooner or later. The minister also suggested that the central bank along with the government will soon settle down their differences.
When Manturov was asked about the legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country, he said that the matter is when it will be accepted how it will work and how it will be regulated. He also talked about the government’s and central bank’s active cooperation in the matter.
The minister said that everyone should understand that sooner or later it will be implemented and in an appropriate format.
Russia panned for its own digital rouble but recently the government thought to support private cryptocurrencies while arguing that they could be a means of money laundering over the years.
But Elvira Nabiullina, the Central Bank Governor of Russia forbids investing in cryptocurrencies and suggested stopping the trading and mining of the cryptos.
The other central bank officials also cited the rising number of crypto transactions that create risks to the financial stability of the country and said that last year all the rooms were vacant for the cryptocurrencies in the financial market of Russia.
